Borugo "Lowland paca"

This rodent is characterized by its rough and thick coat, of colors that go from the black to the chestnut. On the sides it has dotted white spots and a belly cream or reddish brown. -The borugo inhabits the Andean mountain forests of Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia. Live in caves made in the ground or in the roots of trees, near rivers and streams. Occasionally he shares his cave with snakes that provide protection. It is a nocturnal animal, it can be seen on the day when it is going to eat (due to hunger) or for reasons of defense, since it is an easy prey for carnivorous animals

The name of Borugo is inspired by a mammal (Agouti paca, renamed Cuniculus paca, name that comes from the tupí paca, awake, alert, and is related to the Quechua p'aqo, reddish), which is one of the largest rodents of the world.
