Leopardus tigrinus
Leopardus tigrinus, this is the smallest species of the six felines registered in the country, its size is equal to that of a domestic cat, has nocturnal habits and is carnivorous so it feeds on mammals such as mice and birds. In Colombia, the woolly tiger Leopardus tigrinus, is a species vulnerable to extinction according to the criteria of the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development and the Union for the Conservation of Nature -UICN-.
It occupies a great variety of habitats from humid forests, dry and thorny thickets, savannas, swamps and marshes. They are usually nocturnal and crepuscular animals, which spend most of the day sleeping on some branch, or hidden among the vegetation. They are solitary, and are usually found in pairs during the reproductive season.
