Carnival of Blacks and Whites
These carnivals are tradition of the department of Nariño, but they were hosted in Mocoa because much of the population is of Nariño origin.
On January 5th of each year, the custom is to paint with black or multicolored cosmetics, on this day there are great variety of presentations such as: folkloric dances, castañedas families, music groups, comparsas, among others.
On the 6th of the same month the special event is the majestic parade of comparsas, floats of fantasies, murgas and individual costumes, where the artisan gives an expression of his special art using everything recyclable to beautify the carnivals.
